4️⃣ Fill in these blanks “I don’t know who needs to hear this but [the thing they think they need to do] isn’t going to get you [what they want]. But this will.”

For example:

4) A viral hook won’t save bad content - The hook gets them through the door. What makes them stay, follow and buy is whether the content behind it makes them feel like they’ve found something worth staying for.

5) Engagement is not evidence your content is working - Hundreds of saves. Zero enquiries. The people who buy are often silent lurkers so stop asking “did this do well” and start asking “did the right person feel seen.”

The smell of bay leaves stopped me in my tracks last night.

I was halfway through cooking spag bol (literally the only thing I can cook) and thinking about how grateful I am for my business.

Notifications popping up, stripe payments coming through, clients happy.

You know the drill.

Life feels good.

Then I threw the bay leaves into the pot.

And suddenly I wasn’t in my kitchen anymore.

I was back at my dad’s.

When I was 17, I’d go to his place every other weekend. He’d cook and then afterwards I’d sit there eating a tub of Pringles, ice cream, and two packets of Oreos while watching Pop Party on TV.

Safe to say discipline wasn’t exactly “the thing” there 😂

But bay leaves? Bay leaves were something he used ALL the time. And that smell last night was exactly how I remembered it all those years ago.

I just stood there for a while smelling them.

Thinking about my dad.
Thinking about his cooking.
Thinking about all the things we said and all the things we didn’t (and maybe should’ve)

The thing about grief is sometimes, it isn’t sobbing and waves of guilt for everything left unsaid but a moment that you actually…welcome? A moment you want to stay in?

Because not only does it allow you to relive these memories but to slow down. Enjoy the moment. Smell the fkn roses…or bay leaves? I guess?

So this is me.

And still… nothing.

Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:

The hook isn’t the problem.

A great hook on content that gives people no reason to care will stop the scroll…

…for about three seconds.

And then they scroll straight past you.

Think about it like this.

A beautiful shop window can make you stop walking down the street.

But if you walk inside and nothing feels like it’s for you…

You walk straight back out again.

The window did its job.
The shop is what lost you.

Your content works the exact same way.

Here’s the structure I use for every single piece of content I create:

Hook → Bridge → Value → Bridge → Call to action.

The hook stops the scroll.
One line. Specific. Maybe a little spicy. Something that makes people go, “wait… what?”

The first bridge makes people feel seen.
You describe their situation so accurately they feel like you’ve been living inside their head.

The quiet inbox.
The half-written caption that’s been sitting in drafts for two weeks.

If you think you’ve gone too specific… you probably haven’t gone specific enough.

Then comes the value.

Not 15 tips.
Not a 7-step framework.

Just one shift.
One idea that makes everything click.

Your second bridge lands the message and reinforces the point.

And then your call to action is simple:
one clear invitation.

Follow.
Comment.
Save.
Join your offer.

Just one.

The hook might get attention.

But the rest of the content is what makes people stay, save it, and come back for more.
